Part Art![]() Facilitator Saul Albert and Mary Anne Francis introducing Part Art 'Part Art' is a brand of module-based works that operate at the interface of art and its many cultural others e.g. domestic functionality, horticulture, and which always require user interaction in order for the works to be realised. The ‘Easycare’ flower arrangements (see Gallery) represent one strand of this practice, with their plastic components engaging, on the one hand, a quasi-abstract three-dimenisonal language, and the rhetoric of flower display on the other. The modular construction allows the user to re-arrange them. For OpenCongress, Part Art is offering a number of these works per se for Open Sourcing (over and above the material rearrangement of their internal components) - and this work will take place over the two days of the Congress. Through making the Open Source work of adoption and adaption visible - the process being the spectacle more so than the works so produced or altered - the project aims to render manifest the many issues implicated in an Open Source approach to art, attending particularly to the question of how / if creative output is thereby enhanced. Part Art was initiated by Mary Anne Francis. See fulldetailshere audio file available in our download section ocdownloads ![]() ![]() back to congressOctParticipants |
