Dear OmWeb site owner, As you may have noticed, the OmWeb web services system has been experiencing some problems of late - in the most serious cases causing sites to display blank and be unavailable. This occurred because the system has been subject to an unprecedented quantity of spam postings, which use the 'comment' functionality of sites - specifically anonymous comment - to target userbases. To stop this from happening again and generally address the problem of robot-spam, OpenMute has been forced to implement some strict safety measures: we hope you will bear with us while we go through with them. The amount of spam on OmWeb sites is now so high that the only way we can recover the system overall and for individual users is to start afresh. This means deactivating all sites and then manually reactivating those that site owners report to us as active and required. While this seems drastic, it can be done very quickly and should not actually cause much inconvenience. What it means in practical terms is that, until OpenMute hears from their site owners, individual OmWeb sites will henceforth be unavailable for use. By verifying in this way that your site is in use, we can keep closed the spam robot-infected OmWebWeb sites and reduce the resource load they are causing, and thus, also, the interruption to your services.
